If you haven't heard yet, it's officially the Christmas season. And now I feel like I can officially share with all of you my new Christmas FIND!!!: "The Christmas Chronicles, " a radio drama about the true story of Christmas exclusively on Classical 89.
Last year I began catching bits of it as I would drive to and from Christmas rehearsals and performances. I soon began leaving earlier, and planning my commutes around when TCC would be airing on Classical 89. I was so enchanted by the story that I swore that next year I would get my own CD copy of it and my family would listen to it on our 8-hour drive back from Idaho at Thanksgiving, as a sort of "kick-off" to the holidays.
Well, I found the series on CD (at Deseret Book!) and we did listen to it all the way home this last Sunday. My kids were riveted. We have NEVER had so little arguing or whining in the car on that long drive home. Whenever we had to turn off the radio for something they BEGGED us to turn it back on. They asked us to rewing certain parts so they could hear it again. And I remembered again how enchanted I became with the story last year.
I attached a post from the Classical 89 web-site about the author of the story, and bit of the background to The Christmas Chronicles, as well as the air-times of the series. This will be a tradition that we will enjoy from now on. I hope you get to listen to it, too, and "Spread the word!"

Alright, so trying to post to this blog makes me feel like an idiot. I know I am commenting on Rachel's post, but that is just the only way I could figure out how to post. I am so not 21st century!
ReplyDeleteSo it suddenly dawned on me that we have a book club retreat coming up and I haven't sent out a single post. Mark your calendars for February 2-4. That's a Thursday evening through Saturday evening. We will be going to my family's cabin in Liberty which is about 15 minutes north of Huntsville and is about an hour and twenty minutes from here. I plan on leaving just as soon as I can have a babysitter come on Thursday afternoon. Being as close as it is I am not too worried about car pooling. Jump in with me or come when it is convenient.
I would like to get a head count, just so we know who to expect. I'm not worried about how many, we have beds for 24 if we double up in the queens and two more couches so invite whoever you want, the more the merrier!
